With only 3 weeks left until I leave Aveda I've noticed that most of our guest do not know their skin types and are using products that are not best suited for their skin. Hopefully this will post will help you identify your skin type so that you can be one step closer to healthier skin.

Normal Skin
  • Oil Production is not excessive

  • Dryness is not excessive

  • Blemishes are few and far between

  • Small to normal pore size

Dry Skin

  • Oil production is not sufficient

  • Feeling of tightness after you cleanse

  • Flakiness

  • Scaly is appearance

*Note that all skin types tend to show signs of dryness during Fall and Winter months, so a true "Dry Skin Type" would be in this state throughout the year

Oily Skin

  • Excessive oil production

  • Blemish or Acne Prone

  • Often times congested *Which basically means pores are clogged, because of the presence of blackheads, whiteheads, oil, dirt, etc.

  • Large pores
Combination Skin
  • Dry Cheeks and oily T-zone (Forehead, Nose, and Chin)

  • Pore size varies (Smaller on cheeks and Larger on T-zone)
